This week was another adventure. We never have boring days here in Miami. Like many good stories, this one begins on Wednesday while we were knocking. It was a white house and we knocked on the door. Everything appeared to be normal. Then the door opened. And the next thing my mind registered was that my hand was in a dog's mouth. A pit bull's mouth. A very angry pit bull.
The next few minutes were a blur. I have no idea how I got my hand out, but I did. I have no idea what stopped the really angry dog from biting us again. It was like there was a wall around us. He would growl, lunge, and then stop two inches away from our skin. Sis. Soza was screaming and I just stood there paralyzed. The woman of the house was older and I think the dog belonged to her son because she was just as terrified as we were. Once again, I have no idea how that dog got in the house but it did. I kind of went into shock as I slowly realized that my hand was covered in blood but we made sure the dog had his shots and then gave a card to the lady and went to the car, where I washed my hand off and held gauze to it.
Well, I ended up going through quite bit of gauze because I couldn't stop the bleeding but eventually we got there and it was all good. We went to all of our appointments for the day (during which I learned that it is illegal to have a pitbull in Miami-Dade county. What do you know. haha.) and had an awesome day.
The elders had offered to give me a blessing 3 or 4 times so once we were home for the night I accepted and they told me in the blessing to go to the hospital...so we had a grand time going to the ER and I found out I had a fracture in my hand, but it isn't bad so I am still good! I got some antibiotics, filled out a police report, and continued the week.
I am sending a picture of what my hand looked like after I had washed it off a couple of times. It really is a huge miracle, considering the type of dog and all.
This week I've been really grateful for God's hand in my life, and in the life of all those I know. He listens to us and cares about us and directs us if we listen to him. I KNOW that. It is that simple.
I love you all so much and miss you tons!!!!
Love,
